In a nutshell, Amy entered the world telling jokes and has been on a roll from there. While still just a teen, friends encouraged her onto an open mic stage in San Diego, and she never stopped. Amy worked at her stand-up, performing at comedy clubs, festivals, and colleges all over southern California. She made her mark with her very physical comedic style. In 1991, she was invited to San Francisco to participate in a ground-breaking out comedy video.
Amy was a writer/performer in the then-unprecedented "Out for Laughs" and became a regular performer at the legendary Josie's Cabaret in San Francisco. She started touring and became a popular favorite in clubs, colleges and pride events from California to Provincetown. Amy competed in the mainstream national "Ladies of Laughter Comedy Competition" where she won first place and a lovely plaque.
Amy was a co-founder of the celebrated sketch comedy trio "This Side of Butch", performing throughout northern California. The group was also responsible for several film festival short videos, including the international hit, "A Religious Experience".
Amy was invited on an Olivia Cruises & Resorts trip to Alaska and has been a popular performer on their vacations since then. The passengers agree Amy's physicality on stage puts her into a perfomance catagory of her own. She has been described as "a squirrel on crack" and " the lesbian Jim Carrey".
Amy branched out into the field of movies, theater and television/radio voice-overs. After a gig as a cop in the forgettable movie, "Metro" (with Eddie Murphy), she decided it was time to follow her life-long interest for a career in the field of law enforcement. In 1999, Amy became a sworn police officer and works happily in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Amy is pleased to have shared the stage with talented performers such as comedy queens Kate Clinton & Suzanne Westenhoefer, Broadway's Kathy & Mo, the unprecedented kd lang, the indigo girls, the notorious Margaret Cho; cabaret genius Zoe Lewis, 70's mega-star Helen Reddy, outrageous Judy Tenuta, the legendary Cris Williamson & Meg Christian; the hilarious Elvira Kurt, Marga Gomez, Vickie Shaw, Lisa Koch... and many others.
Amy continues to work as a stand-up comic, among other things, and lives in the Bay Area. She persists in her quest to master the ukulele.
